Saint Augustine Senior Photographer: What to Expect

Are you an upcoming high school senior (or a senior mom!) wondering what it's actually like to work with a senior photographer here in Saint Augustine, Florida? I've been working with high school senior families for the past nine years, and love it!

Here at Melissa Reinhardt Photography, I believe you should feel excited and completely at ease every single step of the way. No guessing and no showing up to your session hoping for the best. I've got you covered from start to finish! So let's talk about what exactly a typical session look like, because when you know what to expect, the whole experience gets to be that much more fun. Plus, over the years, I've learned what's really important to my families and we focus just on that.

Here's what your senior session will look like:

+ a real conversation before we ever pick up a camera: Before your session, we sit down and actually talk. Just the two of us (and mom!). We'll chat about your style, your personality, and what you want your photos to feel like. Are you more of a beachy, laid-back girl? Classic and timeless? Bold and editorial? There's no wrong answer and there's no pressure! We'll use this time to nail down your locations, talk through your outfit options, and make sure everything is planned so you walk into session day feeling completely prepared and confident, not anxious and guessing.

+ the most gorgeous locations Saint Augustine has to offer: One of my absolute favorite things about shooting senior sessions here in Saint Augustine is that this city is stunning in literally every direction. We have cobblestone streets and Spanish colonial architecture in the historic downtown, dreamy golden sand dunes and wildflowers at Anastasia State Park, the iconic Bridge of Lions, the timeless and elegant beauty of Flagler College, and the laid-back sun-soaked vibes of St. Augustine Beach. We'll choose the spots that match your outfits and your vibe, and trust me, no matter where we shoot, the backdrop is going to be absolutely gorgeous. This city was made for senior portraits!

+ a session where you actually feel like yourself: I know a lot of seniors walk in nervous that they're going to look stiff or awkward in their photos, and that is the very last thing I want for you! I ease you in slowly at the start of your session, give you simple and natural prompts throughout, and before long you will completely forget the camera is even there. We laugh, we move around, we try different things, and what comes out of that is genuine, real, you energy in every single frame. Most seniors tell me afterward that it was so much more fun than they ever expected! Sessions typically run one to two hours so we have plenty of time to work through all your looks without ever feeling rushed or stressed.

+ an in-person reveal that will honestly take your breath away: Okay, this is my absolute favorite part of the entire experience, and I hear from families all the time that it ends up being one of their favorite memories from senior year! After I've spent time carefully editing your best images, I come to your home for your reveal and ordering appointment. No logging into a website. No scrolling through a digital gallery alone on your phone. We do this together, in person, the way it was meant to be done! We start by watching a cinematic slideshow of your proofs set to beautiful music, full screen, your images seeing the light of day for the very first time. Moms have teared up. Seniors have gasped. It is truly a special moment every single time. Then I spread your proofs out right there on your table, actually printed, so you can hold them in your hands, sort them by outfit and by location, and really take your time finding your favorites. There is something about seeing your images printed that makes them feel so much more real than a screen ever could. Once you've chosen your favorites, we place your order together right then and there. Prints, wall art and digital files, whatever fits your family best. I'm right there with you to answer every question and help you figure out exactly what you need.

Senior year is such a big deal and it goes by so fast. Before you know it, graduation is here and you're wishing you had more photos to look back on. I want to make sure that doesn't happen to you!
